Everything, Everything
Updated: Oct 2, 2019
In life sometimes it seems like all I want is everything. The novel I'm currently reading Everything, Everything by breakout author Nicola Yoon encompasses that idea.
Madeleine, our well-read main character, is 18 and has never left her home because of a rare autoimmune disease. Olly is the angsty boy-next-door who refuses to let Maddy's inability to leave her house stop him from becoming her friend. Together they're forming an adolescent bond that is leading them to risk everything to be together.
This book is challenging me to contemplate the difference between being alive and really living. I'm not even sick the way Maddy is. I can leave my house. I can literally do everything. So what's stopping me?
This story has all the factors of a typical YA romance including parents who don't understand, impossible odds, and the bliss of that first, great, all-consuming love.
On a side note, you may have seen a movie trailer for this floating around starring Amandla Stenberg, but so far I promise the book is definitely worth a read!
