Game of Thrones Enneagrams

Ever think about what the personality types of your favorite fictional characters might be? I do. I decided to categorize some major characters from Game of Thrones into what I think their Enneagram would be. (This is based on the TV show because I haven't read the books.)

Type 1-The Reformer

Daenerys Targaryen

Daenerys spends all eight seasons on a quest to "reform" Westeros and take her rightful place as its leader. She demonstrates many times her perfectionistic drive to do things according to a code she deems "right." Her main plotline follows her trying to change society to the way that she thinks it should be.

Wing I would say Daenerys is a Wing 2 because a lot of her intrinsic motivation comes from trying to help disadvantaged individuals.

Type 2-The Helper

Jon Snow

Jon constantly sacrifices what he might want or what is better for his future for the sake of other people. This is one of his strengths and greatests faults. He cares for others' well-being above his own and values loyalty to both his family and The Night's Watch. The importance he places on helping others also enables him to be brave in a multitude of dangerous, high stakes situations throughout the show.

Wing I would guess that Jon is a Wing 1 because he adheres to a strong sense of duty and a moral code.

Type 3-The Achiever

Margaery Tyrell

From her first moments on screen, Margaery always had her eyes on the prize and knew exactly how to get what she wanted. She vocalized her desire to be queen and made it happen, despite numerous setbacks. Margaery demonstrated an ability to morph into whatever role she needed to play in order to accomplish her greatest goals. From acting as a compassionate caretaker or cunning seductress, plenty of characters in Kings Landing were subject to Margaery's manipulations.

Wing I would say that Margaery is a wing 4 because she definitely values the finer things in life and make efforts to present herself as beautiful and successful.

Type 4-The Individualist

Sansa Stark

Dramatic, moody, and self-absorbed, Sansa is definitely a 4 (like me lol). She spent the majority of her time from seasons 1-6 waiting to be rescued rather than taking control of her own fate. In the earlier seasons, she was a victim of constant self-pity, never taking responsibility for her actions or trying to better her circumstances. However as she matured, Sansa developed her sense of self and wardrobe, embraced her identity, and was intuitive to the needs of her people in The North.

Wing I'm a little up in the air about this, but I would say that Sansa has a 3 wing, especially the older and more mature she grew. 4w3s care about authenticity and personal significance while also making an impact in their world, much Sansa in the final season.

Type 5-The Investigator

Samwell Tarly

A lot of the shows biggest mysteries were solved by none other than Sam. He evolved from a bumbling coward into an extremely valuable maester. Without him there would be no dragonglass discovery or healing of grayscale. He loved to research, problem solve, and figure out exactly what was going on in Westeros.

Wing I will give him a wing 6 because he was always loyal to those who showed him kindness and he valued stability.

Type 6-The Loyalist

Brienne of Tarth

This is all right there in the name. She was a LOYAL woman. Even after Catelyn Stark died and there was no one else to hold her accountable, Brienne was determined to fulfill every promise she made. She valued security, honor, and dedication above all else.

Wing She probably has a 5 wing because 6w5s are known as "The Guardian" and that's literally what she spent her entire storyline doing.

Type 7-The Enthusiast

Arya Stark

Arya was unpredictable and that's how she liked it. Not one to stay somewhere too long, she kept things edgy and interesting at all times. She wasn't afraid to face off against foes larger than herself, travel across the world alone, and be independent following the dissolution of her family.

Wing Arya definitely has an 8 wing as most of her motivation comes from an unquenchable desire to avenge herself and her companions against enemies.

Type 8-The Challenger

Cersei Lannister

Cersei spent every single one of her storylines being in opposition to someone. She saw others as opponents, not individuals, and fought to protect her place in the kingdom, which she constantly felt was in jeopardy. Cersei even picked fights with Jamie who was hopelessly in love with her and did everything for her. Cersei felt that she was better than, smarter than, and above everyone else in her life.

Wing I think she has a 7 wing because those types do not like being controlled by other people, can be power hungry, and do not appreciate authority.

Type 9-The Peacemaker

Tyrion Lannister

Maybe this only applies to Tyrion for the first half of the show, but as an easy going, pleasure seeker, I can definitely see Tyrion as a 9. He liked to have fun and be chill. He was accepting of those around him, no matter their social station or background, and sardonically optimistic about the circumstances he was thrust into. Growing up in such a turbulent family, it's no wonder his basic motivation would be to find peace and happiness.

Wing I think Tyrion has an 8 wing because he is assertive in his opinions, often distracts himself with wine and prostitutes rather than dealing with problems, is adaptable, and able to come up with clever solutions.

What do you think? Did I give these characters the wrong types?
